Bryan Kelly is a writer, editor, social media manager, and content strategist with an extensive editorial and creative background. After graduating from the University of Michigan, he got his start as an intern at Bleacher Report, where he rose to become the second-most read writer (behind the guy who did cheerleader slideshows). He’s held staff and freelance positions for companies like The Onion, iHeartRadio, Melville Publishing House, The Gotham, and Thrillist Media Group, among others.
An alumnus of Columbia University’s writing program, he is a recipient of Hopwood Awards for novel, playwriting, and short story. His fiction and essay writing has been published in Direct Object, The Bold Italic, Inverse, and others. He is inspired by humor, voice, and the fascinating interplay between the visceral and the cerebral within marketing.
Outside of his duties as a brand and content strategist, Bryan is a multimedia artist specializing in analog collages of fake newspapers and magazines published under the Instagram handle @alt_york. He was the runner-up (in a field of two) in the Ann Arbor mayoral election of 2014, a blow to his ego from which he has largely recovered.
