Devin Dinsmore
When Devin was in High School, he was “that dude.” Long hair, Led Zeppelin t-shirt, and a constant sneer – if he were a cartoon character that would’ve been his signature “look.” He was a self-proclaimed “punk-ass rock kid,” even playing in a crappy high school band. But underneath all that attitude (and hair), he was also a kid who loved to read the classics – Hemingway, Vonnegut, Bradbury; just as obsessed with those guys as he was with Jimmy Page, Joe Strummer, and Mick Jagger. Well, those guys and… Harry Potter. And Spider-Man.
Looking back, Devin could see that he always loved a good story, whether it was the lionized story of a rock star, a sci-fi novel about humans living on Mars, or, well, a bullied nerd who gets bit by a radioactive spider and starts climbing walls and kicking ass. That’s something he carried with him to his undergraduate studies, bouncing from English to Psychology to Journalism to Psychology, and finally settling on History. Clearly, decisiveness was not a strong suit, but the one constant in all the studies was human stories, and the different approaches to actually telling that story.
Though Devin never saw himself writing and strategizing content at a marketing agency, now, there’s no question that this job is doing what we always loved most: telling a damn good story.
