Watch Now: Why Accessibility Matters to Your Business

In honor of Global Accessibility Awareness Day coming up on May 18th, join Overit and Disability Rights New York for a panel discussion on why accessibility matters to business owners, marketers, and digital/web professionals. Accessibility and accommodations, both online and in-person, should not be an afterthought. They should be a part of your overall business and marketing strategies.

Our panelists will review the progress made in disability rights here in New York and on the federal level, the shifts and changes that came about during the pandemic, and explain why now is the time to make lasting change.

You’ll learn practical next steps your business can make to be more accessible. Because accessibility doesn’t just help those with disabilities. It helps everyone.

Join us in person at the Overit office or online with our panelists:

  • John Robinson: CEO, Our Ability
  • Tim Clune: Executive Director, DRNY
  • Brooke Ellison: Associate Professor, Stony Brook University
  • Katrin Haldeman: Director of Marketing and Communications, DRNY.
  • Dan O’Leary: Senior SEO Strategist, Overit

Who should attend?

Business owners, marketing directors, digital marketers, web professionals and anyone interested in learning more about accessibility.

About the Panelists:

John Robinson is the CEO of Our Ability, the only disability-owned and operated business dedicated to building employment opportunities through our job platforms, employment webinars, digital profile system, and personal empowerment. John is dedicated to connecting individuals with disabilities towards education and employment through mentoring, workshops, public speaking as well as job placement.

Tim Clune is the Executive Director of DRNY. Tim originally joined DRNY in 1990 and has successfully litigated several novel cases establishing and expanding the rights of individuals with disabilities throughout the state and nation.

Brooke Ellison is a Ph.D. and an Associate Professor at Stony Brook University, teaching health policy and medical ethics. As a child, she was hit by a car while walking home from school and suffered innumerable injuries. She says, “I was a fighter. I am a fighter. My disability in no way compromises that. In fact, my disability amplifies that.” She’s written two books, MIRACLES HAPPEN and LOOK BOTH WAYS.

Katrin Haldeman is the Director of Marketing and Communications for DRNY. Prior to joining DRNY, Katrin was the Executive Chef-Owner of the Dali Mamma Café in Albany and continues as the principal owner of Idea Faqtory Consulting Company. During her time at DRNY, Katrin has created and implemented a marketing strategy to increase awareness for DRNY

Dan O’Leary is a Senior SEO Strategist at Overit, responsible for overseeing SEO strategy and execution for Overit’s clients and growing their organic search visibility across a range of search engines. Dan contributes to Overit’s clients’ web accessibility considerations and hosts Overit’s SEO Brief.
