Operation UpCycle is a school bus fleet revitalization program run by NAPT.org and funded by a grant from the EPA.
The concept behind Operation Upcycle is simple and straightforward. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded a $5 million grant to the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT), and it’s partner NGV Fleet Partners, to buy old buses, repower them, and then lease them back to the school district at a subsidized price. It is a turn-key program; NAPT manages all the interim steps – from finding CNG conversion sources to monitoring fuel consumption and emissions reductions.
