Google: Snippets of a Test

Dark
Light

Google is testing the size of snippets.

For those who don’t know what I mean, the description underneath the link in a Google search result is what I am referring to:

Photobucket

See the description underneath the ‘Google blue’ link? That’s what we’re talking about here.

In the near future, people using Google to search may have the option to omit the snippet, see the standard snippet or see an extended snippet.

This raises some questions:

1) Without a snippet, how will this affect conversions (get your title in gear, then)?
2) With an extended snippet, will there then only be 2 or 3 search results on the first page?
3) And if so, will this drive deeper SERP drilling, thus allowing Google to display more ads?

I could go on and on. I’d rather have you email your ideas as to how this might have an effect on conversions, search results, ad impressions, etc.
