From events at our office to attendance at two great conferences, October is a busy month for the Overit team. Today, we wanted to quickly highlight two upcoming events where you can catch us.

October 3: Lawrence Basso to Speak at SMX East

SMX East 2013 kicks off next week, and we are thrilled that Lawrence Basso, Overit’s Motion Director, is scheduled to speak with Tim McDonald, Director of Community at The Huffington Post, and Mark Robertson, Founder of ReelSEO, about the benefits of video.

Quick & Easy Video” – 1:00 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. Thursday, October 3

Adding video to your website and social sharing pages is a great way to diversify your content and create additional avenues for search engines (and searchers) to find you. The good news is that creating and posting video needn’t be an expensive or time-consuming process. This session focuses on the tools and social share sites that make adding online video quick and easy.

I caught up with Lawrence this morning to discuss his role in the presentation. Tim and Mark will introduce the basics of video, its benefits and how you can promote your video content better, Lawrence’s talk will go “beyond the basics.” He’ll be discussing how you can take it one step further by employing simple tricks and tips to up the quality of your video and audio. He will also remind people that the content of your videos is important – “A pretty video that’s just pretty with no meaning won’t do anything.”

Lawrence has been with Overit for nine years, now overseeing a department handling everything from motion design, cinematography, and photography to illustration, animation and audio. Meet up with him and Lisa Barone at the conference!

October 4: Art at Overit to Make Debut

Here at Overit, we are passionate about the arts. While it shows in much of our work produced for clients, we are proud of our many employees who have their own artistic outlets outside of office hours, and we enjoy showing them off. On Friday, October 4, Overit is hosting its first “Art at Overit” event, dedicated to sharing the work of Capital Region artists with the public.

The theme of our first Art at Overit is “Art by Musicians,” and our five presenters will be sharing their photography, illustrations and paintings while also sharing their musical talents. Get introduced to their artwork while learning more about their musical interests and current releases.

Can’t make next week’s show? There will be more Art at Overit events to come. Contact us if you’re interested in sharing your work or have an idea for a great theme you’d like to see.

More Events to Come

That takes us through this next week, but 2013 won’t be slowing down for the Overit crew. Tedx Albany comes to Overit November 4 and, well, we may just have something else in the works not announced yet. Stay tuned!
