The state of Vermont envisioned building a geospatial tool to promote renewable energy options within the state. With the planning, branding, icon development, interface design, WordPress development and public relations launch led by Overit, the Renewable Energy Atlas of Vermont was the first application to enable end users to research a myriad of renewable energy options available in their town, county or neighboring communities.
Overit was charged with finding a solution that facilitated the decision-making process at all levels through robust information discovery and dissemination. We had to develop an easy-to-use interface that managed complex, evolving data, and we had to provide an archive of education resources on renewable energy options such as biomass, hydroelectric, solar, wind, geothermal and efficiency.
Beyond just building the tool itself, Overit was tasked with launching the product throughout the state of Vermont as well as across the U.S. In order to garner attention among consumers, thought leaders and local and national government leaders we coordinated a media tour that resulted in coverage in the Associated Press which was picked-up in 38 additional top-tier outlets. Additionally, stories posted in outlets like Central Vermont Regional Planning Commission and Earth Techling.
The Renewable Energy Atlas of Vermont was recognized as a cutting-edge, innovative response to finding solutions for our carbon-constrained future. It continues to extend awareness of renewable energy options throughout Vermont.
